The body of the box is Purple Heart wood and the fretboard top is Ebony with Cocobolo edge. The inside bottom is lined with Genuine Fender® Tweed, the same material Fender used on their vintage amplifiers. The body has a custom Malachite Inlay in addition to the Malachite Inlay fret markers. Inlaid with beautiful Malachite, ancient Egyptians believed that malachite is a protection stone, absorbing negative energies.
Beautiful, Unique and Handcrafted Heirloom Quality, this beautiful box was handcrafted from Solid Purpleheart wood; sometimes called Amaranth, this colorful Latin American hardwood is tremendously popular for its unique splash of color. This box is all natural with no dyes or stains; the vibrant color and grain pattern is the piece of wood that only comes by once in a lifetime and shows Mother Nature’s beauty.
We make the top the same way we make a real guitar fretboard starting with a beautiful piece of Ebony for the fretboard. We slot the Ebony with a fret saw and use real nickel silver frets. When cutting the slots for the frets I use the same method as I do when hand sawing the fret slots on a guitar neck; then I press the frets into those slots. The fret spacing is based on a 24 3/4” Gibson scale and includes the 2nd thru 6th frets, with 6.35 mm Turquoise dot markers representing the 3rd and 5th frets
The box is quality built using miter and dado construction On this particular box I have used hidden hinges and you will appreciate the quality craftsmanship. The Pick Box is all natural with no stains or dyes; everything you see is what nature has done and then I protect that with a durable poly topcoat
